Our Story

At Carlsen Studio, we believe that art has the power to bring you back to the places you love most.

We're Jake and Christina Carlsen — a husband-and-wife team, two artists with very different styles but one shared inspiration: the beauty of the Oregon Coast and Pacific Northwest nature.

Jake’s photography captures the timeless landscapes of the coast with a nostalgic eye, using film cameras and digital techniques that bring out the rich, gritty textures of memory. Christina’s paintings bring coastal animals to life with joyful color palettes, whimsical nautical sayings, and a lighthearted spirit that invites a smile.

Together, our work offers two interpretations of the same beloved coast: one timeless and grounded, the other playful and free.

Photography by Jake Carlsen offers a window into the quiet beauty of nature.

Shooting with both vintage film and carefully crafted digital techniques, Jake’s images capture the wild texture of Oregon’s waterfalls, misty forests, rocky coastlines, and weathered structures. Each piece offers a sense of place — the feeling of standing at the ocean’s edge, the hush of Silver Falls, or the history written into old wood and stone.

Paintings by Christina Carlsen bring out the playful magic of the coast.

Our Process

Jake often shoots with vintage film cameras and processes his own black & white negatives to capture timeless textures.

Christina paints coastal animals in joyful color palettes that bring the playfulness of the ocean to life.
